A word from the president

Welcome to ATIM’s new home on the internet. After many months of meetings and consultations, we are pleased to launch our new and improved website, which introduces several important upgrades to better serve our members and the public.

Member portal

Our new member portal gives ATIM members direct access to their directory profile, which includes several enhancements (more on that below). The portal also provides a simple way for members to renew their membership and serves as the gateway to ATIM’s new e‑stamp solution. Members can also log in to download their new digital stamp and certification statement templates. Finally, the portal houses ATIM’s job board, which is continuously updated with employment and contract opportunities.

New and improved directory

ATIM’s directory has been enhanced with several new features. Members can now indicate their fields of specialization, making it easier for clients to find them based on subject-matter expertise. Each member now has a dedicated profile page, where they can include a message to clients in their target language, share links to social media accounts and professional websites, and indicate whether they offer certified translations of official documents. Thanks to these improvements, site visitors can quickly find a professional who meets their needs.

Pathways to certification

Our webpages outlining ATIM’s pathways to certification have been refreshed and reorganized by profession, with clearer instructions and easier navigation for prospective applicants.

E-stamp

ATIM now offers an e-stamp solution for certified translations. This system—which has also been adopted by ATIO and STIBC—allows institutions, government authorities and individual clients to confirm the authenticity of a translation by scanning a QR code or entering a verification code. This secure digital stamp modernizes the certification process and offers increased convenience and security while serving as an alternative to the traditional physical stamp.

A new website for a new era

Artificial intelligence has transformed the language industry. Machine translation now handles most low‑stakes, easily automated work. But for high‑risk documents, culturally sensitive content and other high‑impact material, subject‑matter expertise, language skills and professional judgment are more crucial than ever. ATIM’s new website helps our members highlight their experience and articulate their added value, while offering tools and features that make membership even more worthwhile.

This website was a group effort. I wish to thank Jean-Paul Gagné, Kawal Kahlon, Jeff Staflund, Mara Garcia and Larisa Segida for the many hours they contributed to the project. The board is also grateful to Nathan Gagné for building the site and to Camille Bremault for designing the layout. Finally, a big thank you to Rosalie Best for her invaluable assistance in bringing everything (and everyone!) together.

This website belongs to its members. If you have any questions or suggestions, I invite you to contact us at info@atim.mb.ca

I wish you all a wonderful summer!

Jamie McLennan, C. Tran.
